Jill Sutcliffe

Jill Sutcliffe describes herself as an abstract ceramic sculptor because she uses form, colour and gestural markings to express her inspiration rather than produce an accurate depiction of a visual reality. This is clear in Jill’s constructing of abstract structures which take influence from a wide variety of observations found in the energy and colour of nature, and the forms and construction of architecture.

Jill uses a selection of her own glazes which react with each other to achieve the texture and volcanic effect found in her work. All of her sculptures are organically unique and hand-built and are also frost-resistant making a versatile piece that can live inside and out all year round.

Jill is based at Wimbledon Art Studios in London, and has an impressive portfolio of exhibitions across London for well over a decade.
