Penelope Madden worked as a graphic designer at Omnific Design, Penguin Books (covers) and Pentagram. She had a long career teaching at London College of Printing and Central St Martins. After taking a sabbatical she decided to change direction and go back to her first love, painting, and subsequently did her MA in Fine Art at Wimbledon. For the last fifteen years she has painted full time and has shown in many galleries.

The paintings in this show reflect the time Penny spent in India living in Rajasthan while her husband was making two films. Penny fell in love with the country, the colour, the energy, the intensity and most especially the people.
