Michael Wallner

Michael Wallner’s digitally manipulated and coloured photographs often taken hanging out of a helicopter are inspired by the abstract patterns and shapes of the aerial cityscape. Michael’s photographs are transferred onto unusual materials including aluminium, wood, copper and vintage windows.

The ‘journey’ is an important part of Michael’s artistic practice. He is constantly travelling in international cities in search of inspiration for new work. The journey itself is often a vital part of Michael’s art, including the travelling required to source an inspirational view to work with and the unique methods of transport used to capture his subject. Michael often features the modes of transport we use on journeys, especially London buses and taxis, and American double-decker trains.
