Roger Hardy

Roger’s figurative constructions and sculpture were made using found elements from local boatyards, high tides and estuary worn wood from the river Alde. Roger uses the natural processes in the degradation of his materials to simplify the essence of the human form.

Roger’s work is often led by the theme of a journey, both thematically and emotionally. Thematically, Journey has always been important in his work so he carries this theme at the forefront of his thinking. In his studio, Roger waits patiently for the found wood to suggest the figure that he eventually sculpts. The relationships between figures or the physical journey of walking or travelling by boat form a part of this exhibition.
