Fanie Buys is a South African born, London resident figurative painter. He exhibits in South Africa, the UK, and Europe. Most recently he was the winner of the Abercrombie and Kent Prize at the Green and Stone 2023 Summer show. 

Holidays are a sort of abstract concept to Fanie. Only recently has he realised no great ill will befall him if he takes four days away. Fanie’s contribution to Journey is part of a career-long series of appropriating and abstracting other people’s holiday pictures from unsuspecting photo albums, so he can participate in a memory that’s not quite his own.
