Kate Reynolds

Kate studied at Brighton Polytechnic and later gained an MA in Ceramics in 1984 at Cardiff University. United in decorated ceramic forms, Kate’s enjoyment of sculpting, drawing and painting is embodied, the finished works ranging from garden sculptures or pieces to be appreciated inside the home.

The swimming figures modelled in clay and high fired, draw on the shapes created by a figure moving through water or the feeling of fluidity one feels amidst water. A group of figures lead the eye in a flowing wave, creating poetry in the journey they describe. Kate is fascinated by the pure outline of a boat, and on it she represents people and cargo, much like the Egyptian boat in Ipswich Museum.
