Malcolm Doney

Malcolm Doney studied Fine Art at what was then St Martin’s School of Art in London before pursuing a writing career in journalism, advertising and broadcasting.

In his mid-fifties, he was ordained as a priest in the Church of England, and volunteers at his parish church in Suffolk. He describes himself as an “agnostic Christian”.

He has returned to art practice having moved to Blythburgh, Suffolk. He had two solo exhibitions in 2022, and has been involved in a number of group shows (including the RA Summer Exhibition) since. His pictures might be described as faux-naive, leaning on the influence of artists like William Scott, with an emphasis on the everyday – depicting things such as sheds, kitchen implements, and domestic objects.
