Richard Mason
Richard Mason works from his studio in East Sussex. His mobile sculptures explore themes of balance, lightness and a sense of joy! He is interested in forms that fill a space but with little volume and have a spare, restrained aesthetic and uses a limited palette of colours and materials to reflect these concerns.
He uses found materials as well as working in ethically sourced tropical wood and metal and aims to keep the method of construction as efficient and simple as possible in a balance of function and form.
Richard trained in fine art sculpture and after careers in teaching and running an art gallery he has recently begun to make again.
